Welcome to Smyrna Girls Softball League!

We are the Slow Pitch softball league for Smyrna, TN. We offer slow pitch softball divisions for girls from ages 4 to 16! We do a spring season and a fall season each year. Our lower divisions (6u/8u/10u) begin their spring season in early March and our upper divisions (13u/16u) begin their spring season in late April. Our fall season starts in August for all ages. *Note if there is enough interest we will offer a 23u division this Spring (scroll down to add your name to the interest list).


We have spots open for late registrations for girls 10 and under.

Registration for 13u & 16u will remain open thru April 20th.

Spring Payment Plan

Here's how the payment plan works:

Registration is broken up into 5 payments:

  • First Payment (and processing fee) when you register.
  • Second Payment on March 24th
  • Third Payment on March 31st
  • Forth Payment on April 7th
  • Fifth Payment on April 14th

Payments will automatically be charged to the card/account you use when you register on the dates given.

Smyrna Girls Softball League

SGSL would love to have your girl come play with us! We do a spring season and a fall season every year.

The spring season is staggered with the Lower Divisions running early March through the end of May and the Upper Divisions running late April through the end of June. The fall season runs from mid-August through the end of October for all divisions.

We play all of our games at Volunteer Park. And all practices are either at Volunteer or at Sharp Springs Park. We share Volunteer Park with the fastpitch league, so our league has the park on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays before 2pm. We also have practice fields 1 through 6 at Sharp Springs all week.

Before the season begins teams will typically practice on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays (some teams may practice on Tuesday or Friday instead of Mon/Thu depending on on field availability). Once the season starts we will typically have games on Mondays and Thursdays and practices on Saturdays. We do have a Spring Jamboree with Saturday games to start the season and occasionally do make up games on Saturdays.

Games are an hour. Game times are 6:00pm, 7:15pm, and 8:30pm* (*We only do 8:30 games for the upper divisions and only when necessary).

Pricing and Discounts!

Our Spring Season will cost $75 per player.

There is also an optional Concession Buy Out for $45.

And you have the option to order team shirts when you register. Shirts will be $15 each. You can add a name to the back for an additional $3 and you can add your player's jersey # to the back for an additional $2. Shirts will be made by Sister's Crafting Shop.

There is a $5 discount for registering online!

Spring Assessments & Draft - Upper Divisions

13u Division and 16u Division

     - Players will be assessed on April 21st (Time to be announced soon). After assessments, each coach may protect 5 players, all remaining players will go into the draft (note - player and parent must be present at assessments in order to be protected by a coach). Coaches will contact parents that weekend. The rosters will also be updated on the website sometime that weekend. Practices begin the following week.


23u Division

     - To Be Determined. If you are interested in playing in 23u, please post a comment below in the comments section. If we have enough interest we will offer the 23u Division. For this division, if it makes they will play at the same time as 13u/16u but will only play 1 night a week (either Mondays or Thursdays) and will play double headers.

What Does My Child Need To Play?

A lot of our new parents ask the question - What does she need to play? So here's the run down on softball gear:

All players in 8u and up that play infield will be required to wear a face mask. We also encourage this for the 6u as well.

We require each girl to have her own glove and helmet. She will also need a pair of cleats or a good pair of tennis shoes. (If you are in need of these items let one of our board members know, we usually have extras that girls have grown out of and donated to us).

We also recommend girls having their own bat, but if they don't there is usually plenty of girls willing to share. If you are unsure of what size your child needs, then we encourage you to let them try out a few different bats at practice and see what length and weight work best for her. 

We also encourage the girls playing infield to wear a face mask (it is now required for girls playing pitcher in 8u and up). We don't see a lot of injuries in the 6u division, but the older the girls get, the harder they hit, so for their safety we encourage the use of face masks starting in 8u. (You are more than welcome to use them in 6u, but it can be difficult to find a properly fitting mask for the smaller girls, and a lot of times the little ones have trouble seeing out of the masks.)

Also, the softballs we play with are 11 inch balls.

And finally, your child will need a bag to keep all of her stuff in. This will make it a lot easier on the parents and the dugout helpers.

P.S. PLEASE PUT YOUR CHILD'S NAME ON EVERYTHING! Gear gets left all the time at the park, and with 2 leagues using the park, and lots of girls having the exact same thing, getting gear back to its rightful owner can sometimes be tricky. So, please break out your Sharpies and write your child's name on everything before their first practice.


2018 Concessions Policy

Parent volunteers are required to work a shift in the concession stand OR buy out of concessions (buy out fee is $45). This year instead of concession sign ups for shifts, each team will need to provide one parent to work concessions for every home game they play until every parent that hasn’t bought out has worked a shift (*note – coaches and dugout parents are exempt from working concessions).


Park Rules

Smyrna Park Rules - No Bikes, Scooters, Skateboards, Skates, etc. inside the park. No Animals (except for service animals with id). And No Smoking or Vaping inside the park (parking lot only).

Rain Out Information

In the event of bad weather we may need to cancel practices or games. During the week the Parks Department makes their determinations around 3:30pm and they let us know if they close the parks. So unless it is obvious that there is going to be bad weather, we won't post any decisions until 3:30pm. If they do not close the parks, or it is the weekend, then it is up to the league to decide. If we are making the decision we usually like to wait until we can get a board member at the park to look at the fields. As soon as we make a decision we will update the field status on our home page and update our calendar and Facebook page. We will make every effort to get the word out as soon as we know.
